Treatment of Central Diabetes Insipidus with DDAVP(1-Desamino-8-D-Arginine Vasopressin)

Abstract
|

|
DDAVP was assessed in 4-yrs old female patient who entered with the complaints of polyuria, polydipsia and nocturia for 3 months.
A significant reduction in urine volume and increase in urine specific gravity was developed by DDAVP.
No specific side effect was noted.
We conclude that intranasal DDAVP, because of efficacy, long duration of action and infrequent side effect, is the preffered drug of choice of central diabetes insipidus in children.
